George W. Kirk and the 3rd NC Mounted Infantry

Hi List,
I was wondering if anyone knew if George W. Kirk was with his regiment, the 3rd NC Mounted Infantry, during their raid of Waynesville NC. I believe the raid took place during the first week of February 1865. Thanks for any information.
