I would be interested if anyone has looked at the ethnic backgrounds of the Unionist families. There has been some good studies of the migration of the Scots from the eastern seaboard towards the mountains. These are the same folks that ended up moving further west to Texas.

Most of us seem to be based in the Smokey Mountains and Appalacian ranges. So who were all the Unionists from MS, LA, FL, etc?
