I am hoping you may be able to help shed some light on a branch of my great grandmother's tree. Her name is Ethel Dorthy DeBolt. She had several sisters, one of whom married Goeffrey B Southcotte, son of George B and Edith J (maiden name unknown as yet) Southcotte. According to the census records, George Southcotte immigrated to the United States in 1869. He states his birth place as England. The earliest I have been able to locate George is in 1880 when he was in Colorado Springs, El Paso County, Colorado. A search of the 1870 census for Colorado has no listing for any SOUTHCOTTE (or various spellings). George continued to reside in Colorado until his death sometime prior to the 1920 census. His wife, Edith J is listed as widowed in the 1920 and 1930 census records.
The 1900 Census lists George B Southcotte date of birth as November 1850 England.
This is the second line of my family that goes back to England prior to 1900. My father's line came here in 1896 from Leicestershire, England. (I'm not having much luck with his line either.) I have been unable to locate any Naturalization records for either George B Southcotte or my grandfather Walter Harrison and his brother Charles Harrison.
Any light you may be able to shed is greatly appreciated!
Thank you in advance or your time and efforts!
