It has been quite a while since you posted but just in case you still check.
My grandfather's name was Franklin Pierce Southard and he married Kathleen McDowell. I believe he had a brother named Harry. It's supposed to be a family name. I may be able to get you going in the right direction if you haven't found your way there yet.
