Are you referring to the British South Africa Company founded by Cecil Rhodes? It was founded in 1889 and finally closed down in 1965 when the Queen refused to renew the Charter.

You great grandfather might have records in the National Archives of South Africa ( http://www.national.archsrch.gov.za/sm300cv/smws/sm300dlhttp://www.national.archsrch.gov.za/sm300cv/smws/sm300dl ), or on Ancestry24.co.za. No guarantee that they will have doucments though. If they do, unless you actually live near where the documents are held, getting copies will cost some money.
You might also want to try searching on Google Book Search - http://books.google.comhttp://books.google.com
