HI Am hoping someone may have some information on my gt grandfather. His name was Harold Hanks. From death records we think his year of birth to eb around 1873. He worked in Gettysburgh South Africa as manager of a Gold Mine. On one of his trips back from England to SA he met Agnes Brown from Glasgow who was escaping an unhappy marriage with 1 son and another on the way.
She gave birth to Harold's 3 daughters in South Africa Muriel Edith Florence Hanks in 1899, Irene Agnes Winifred in 1900 and Evelyn Violet in 1903 in Jeppestown Johannesburgh. Agnes' son Harold took the Hanks name and when older moved to Autralia where Harold & Agnes and 3 3 girls followed. Agnes' son Herbet Harry Edgar Hanks (took Harold's name) died in 1911 in South Africa This record found

I cannot find any evidence that Harold and Agnes ever married. After her death he remarried in Western Australia to am Isabella Rout.
Harold Hanks died in Western Australia in 1943....on his death certificate his father is listed as Harry Hanks.. shipwright. I also listed his birthplace as Glasgow Scotland. Family recollections though think he was maybe Danish or German.
With neither a marriage certificate nor any birth certificates for the children we have not much to go on so any help would be wonderful
