Hi, my name is Luke Marciniak and I'm the son of Mogamat Sayaid Petersen (now known as Felix Petersen) who was born in Cape Town, South Africa on 23/06/1955 to Abdurahmaan Petersen and Gasnat Toffa. Unfortunately I don't know exactly when my father's parents were born but from their ages on my father's birth certificate it appears that Abdurahmaan was born in 1919 and Gasnat was born in 1920.
My grandfather died when my father was about 2 and so he never really knew him and consequently grew up as an only child with his mother.
Just to give you a bit more history about my family which may or may not be useful, my father along with his mother, Gasnat came to settle in the UK (in Newark near Nottingham in England) in about 1960 or thereabouts, I'm not 100% sure on the dates.
My father has also told me that his father, Abdurahmaan Petersen was born in Johannesburg and that his mother, Gasnat Toffa was from Durban.
My father's South African birth certificate is the only piece of formal information I have about that side of my family and so I'd really appreciate if anybody knows anything more in relation to this.
