Appleford Surname
The Appleford yDNA project has been running now for less than six months and
we have already had a startling success. We have been able to show that two
Appleford families in different parts of the world are related when their
family history research had been unable to show this was so. They can now
pool their resources to trace their family trees further back in time.
There are Appleford families living in the UK, USA, Canada, New Zealand,
Australia and South Africa and we are all working very hard trying to
complete our family history without knowing if there are others doing the
same to whom we are clearly related.
So far we have been able to identify two Appleford lines and we know that in
the UK there were Appleford families living at various times in London,
Essex, Hertfordshire, Hampshire, Bristol, Berkshire, Kent, Sussex and
Wiltshire as well as Worcestershire, Shropshire and Yorkshire. What is
interesting is to find out to what extent if any that they are linked.
Family history Research has enabled us to find links for some of these
families but there are lots of unanswered questions. I remember working with
an Appleford distant cousin on our family tree and being very concerned that
while we felt that circumstances pointed to a link between our families we
could not be 100% certain. Sadly he recently died so the opportunity for us
to use yDNA testing to conclusively prove the link has been lost to us.
If you have ever thought that yDNA testing might help your Appleford
research then do please take this opportunity to participate with other
Appleford males in helping us all to gain a true picture of the Appleford
families across the world and their links.
The test is painless simple and good fun and the results will add a new
dimension to your research. You will also find out which of those lovely
Appleford people out there are related to you and you did not know it.
To participate you must be male with the Appleford surname which must also
have been you father's surname.
