His name was James Smith enlisted at Guernsey Channel Isle on the 22nd Oct 1900 aged 20years 6mths. His No.9159, enlisted for 3Years 9mths,born in the parish of St.Clements Ipswich Suffolk. Trade or calling Moulder. His fathers name is given as Thomas and Mother as dead. Regimental No 9159. He was awarded a Medal, Queens S.A. 2 Clasps cape colony 190 South Africa 1902. He served in South Africa from 16th Jan 1901 and He was wounded by Barbed Wire, sent home 7th Oct 1902. His Campaigns including action were S.Africa 02, Wounded at the Godder River? I am not sure as to the place since it is badly written. He was finally discharged as Physically unfit for war service after serving 7 Years 0days with the colours, and 7 Year 190days in the Army Reserve. He left the colours 22nd Oct 1907 and was discharged 29th April 1915,He died 29th March 1943 Ipswich.
