Elva F. Jaynes, 94, Kingsport, Sullivan Co TN, died Sunday,
January 4, 2009 at Remington House, Assisted Living. Mrs.
Jaynes was a native of Haysi, VA and had lived most of her
life in Johnson City, TN. She was born August 15, 1914, a
daughter of the late Zack and Belvia Sifers South.
Mrs. Jaynes was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Jaynes;
and one brother, Jack South.
She was a retired beautician. Mrs. Jaynes was a member of
Shenandoah Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include one son, Paul Jaynes and his wife, Eva,
Kingsport, TN; one daughter, Linda Chatman and her husband,
Fred, Mount Airy, NC; one sister, Eula Phipps, Johnson
City, TN; one brother, Jim South, Clintwood, VA; and
several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service for Mrs. Jaynes will be held at 1 p.m.,
Wednesday, January 7, 2009 from the Morris-Baker Funeral
Home North Chapel.
Graveside services will follow at Monte Vista Memorial
Park. Reverend Andy White will officiate.
The family will receive friends from 12 noon to 1 p.m.,
Wednesday, January 7, 2009, at the funeral home. The
family expresses a special thank you to the staffs of
Smokey Mountain Home Health and Hospice and Remington
House Assisted Living for their professional and loving
care of their mother.
