Hi Linda That's a shame that it does not show the parents or occupations. Is it the case that no NSW certificates show these things, or just that this particular certificate does not?
Without details of William's father, it is difficult to know where to go for more information. Unfortunately, the christian name of William is very common in the Sorrell families. Perhaps it would at least show his occupation on the birth certificate of Fanny Letitia if you have it. And William's occupation may be shown on her marriage certificate - did she marry in NZ?
However, the Sorrells were great entrepreneurs and turned their hands to many trades over the years, so occupation may not help all that much.
