Mary E. "Polly" Sorelle
Posted by: Debbie Upshaw (ID *****1086) Date: September 14, 2011 at 14:53:04

I am looking for information on

Robert Clinton Webb
Birth 1790
Death bet June 3, 1845 - October 5, 1850 in Union or Claiborne Parish, Louisiana

Mary E "Polly" Sorelle
Birth 17 Aug 1801 in Greene County, Georgia
Death 07 MAY 1853 in Claiborne Parish, Louisiana

They were married 10 Feb 1812 in Greene County, Georgia

I have seen on other people’s family trees that he was born in Greene County, Georgia but have not been able to verify that. He was listed in Union Parish Police Jury minutes on June 3, 1845 but was not on the 1850 census with his wife and youngest son dated October 5, 1850.

Their children were:

Daughter Birth bet 1815-1820
Elisha Webb Birth 1819
Son Birth bet 1820-1830
John Webb Birth bet 1820-1830
Matilda Emeline Webb 1821 – 1864
Mary Ann Webb abt 1822
Emily Webb Birth 2 Feb 1825 in Alabama Death in Union Parish, Louisiana
Caroline Mahala Webb Birth 1829 in Alabama Death 18 Sep 1854 in New Orleans, Jefferson Parish, Louisiana
Robert Clinton Webb Jr. Birth 27 Mar 1833 in Lowndes County, Alabama
Death 29 Jan 1879 in Farmerville, Union Parish, Louisiana

Polly was the daughter of John William Sorelle and May Polly Watts. She also had a sister named Matilda Birth 15 Mar 1790 in Greene County Georgia Death 13 May 1851 in Hayneville, Lowndes County, Alabama. She married Elisha Webb Birth 15 Dec 1781 in Rutherford, North Carolina Death 8 Oct 1843 in Hayneville, Lowndes County, Alabama. He was the son of Robert G Webb and Emelia (Milly) Clinton.

Elisha Webb had a brother named Robert who I have seen married to Nancy Sorelle. I can not find any information on either of them. Matilda had a sister named Nancy but she was married to someone else. Could this be a mistake? Could Robert be my Robert Clinton who was married to Matilda’s other sister Polly? Does anyone know the names of the daughter and son I don’t have one for?

I would appreciate any information you can give me on this.

Thanks
Debbie
