The following comes from John, a kind researcher in the other forum. He found information that had eluded me.
Caroline was born about 1877 per the 1911 Census in Canada.
"Today I found a Danish-born Caroline Sorenson who was living in Utah in the 1890's.Her birth date was listed as Sep 18, 1872. However, she wasn't the right person. It seems like either there isn't enough information or that there is too much "wrong" information. I did manage to track some of children through the census listings but it didn't shed any new light on what happened to Caroline or where she might have come from. Maybe you can post the exact contents of the obit that you mentioned. There might be clues in it.
I can't access it on ancestry.com but the 1911 Canada Census lists Carolina Hill, husband Joseph Hill, birthplace Denmark, age 34, living in Red Deer, Alberta.
It's also possible that "Caroline Elmina Hill" departing St John, New Brunswich to Liverpool England listed on "UK Incoming Passenger Lists 1878-1960" is her."
Steve are you sure Caroline's obit states she was born Sep 18, 1872? Or where does that date come from? Is it possible someone found the "wrong" Caroline (the one John found) and took that birthdate for your Caroline?
Seems a bit of a stretch to think it is coincidence that two Danish-born Caroline Sorensens in Utah would have the exact same birth date. I admit, though, that it is possible.
