Sherry-

According to my research, my Sorbers/Sarbers were of Pennsylvania Dutch stock, earliest known member being Jacob Sorber, born abt 1687 in Palantine(?), Germany. His son Jacob (1707-1774) was born in the same town but died in Plainfield, Northampton, PA. Apparently, 'Sorber' is of Bavarian dialect, meaning 'marsh dweller'.
