Hi All,
I am also descended from this group.I am from Joost Jr and Elizabeth Smith, Nickolas Sooy and Sarah Sears, two of their children Elizabeth and Nicholas.Elizabeth married into the Thompson family and Nicholas into the Weeks family.Nicholas and Esther Weeks Sooy's dau Esther married into the Johnson.Elizabeth Sooy and Arthur Thompson son married the daughter (Elizabeth) of Nicholas and Esther Weeks.
My family is very confusing, I go back to Mathias and Elizabeth Brookfield Johnson in two lines, too Nicholas Sooy Jr and Esther Weeks in two lines and to Nicholas Sooy Sr and Sarah Sars in two lines.
Elizabeth Brookfield is the daughter of William Brookfield.
and Ezekiel Weeks is said to be from Connecticut.Possibly the descendant of Thomas, Joseph or George who were from Devonshire, England and came to Boston in 1635.It is believed that Thomas is Ezekiels ancestor.Thomas settled in Long Island, New York.THIS IS NOT YET PROVEN.
I have a book "The Weeks Family of Southern New Jersey" by Elmer Garfield Van Name, excellent book.
The Vigne family was from Valciennes, France. They went to Holland during the religious wars or persecution and his name went from Guillaume Vinge (or Vigne) french, to Willem (Wilhelm) Vinje (Vienje) by the dutch. This is were my ancester Rachel Vinje was born in 1823.
I have a small webpage that I have put some of my info online. This website is a combination of research done by my grandmother for over 20 years and my own research. It not complete and may have errors, but you are welcome to come see
