Your great-great-grandfather Johann Emil was MY great-grandmother's brother (you must be really young!)
I have a copy of your gggrandparents' marriage record. Also, a stack of other info that have on the family during their years in Norwalk Co., IA.
This includes what is MOST PROBABLY his father's Death Record, info on burial, etc.
If you don't already have this stuff, I'd be glad to exchange it and info on his sister Alvina's line with you for info on your line. (The folks in Norwalk helped me a lot, and sharing lines with them makes it easier for others like me to get info)
I grew up being told that I "took after the Summerfields", never being able to spell it (as they seemed to suffer the same orthographic vagaries!) and never having the slightest idea what a "Summerfield" might be like, except my grandmother, and I wasn't too sure I saw the parallels between her and me! Blonde and blue-eyed, I always guessed. (Well, I was when I was young!)
Anyway, it would be S-O C-O-O-L !!! to connect with a "real" Summerfield and know what I'm supposed to be like!
You are the first potential relative I have encountered from this line! Maybe together we might sort these origins out!!
Although the family seems to have inter-married with a variety of "Germans", I have John (Johanne's) parents as born (and died and buried?) in Alsace-Lorraine.
I will hope to hear from you.
(And anyone else who shares these connections!)
