My ancestor, Alfred Solly lived in Cumberland Cty from the early 1860s until his death in 1905. His occupation as identified on his death certificate was railway engineman. The Census records show that he was born at "Ranegate" (perhaps an error and should have read Ramsgate) St. Lawrence, Kent. His Mar. 22, 1863 Marriage Certificate shows his age as 33 and the name of his deceased father as John - a Gardener. I am trying to confirm Alfred's ancestry in Kent. One possible connection is John and Hannah Kent who had a son baptized on June 1, 1828 according to the Parish Records for St. Lawrence Ramsgate. Appreciate any assistance in this area.
