the 1870 Census of Lauderdale Co. Al is not what I expected: that "Ettie" Sole is 6 years old so born ca 1864 and in Illinois!!!

Sounds like her father died in the War between the states. And her mother remarried jno. Thrasher before 1870.

Right now I have no idea who she could be, but it would appear her mother is Susan, and her grandmother is Julia. I will keep her in mind.

I note your query in the Soles genforum for Ella Soles, b. Alabama 1866 and d. 1962 in Earle, Crittenden Co., Arkansas. What does her death certificate say??? This Ella is undoubtedly descended from the Soule family which came to AL ca 1830s from NC.
