Hi Katie, My name is Sue Diamond and I live in Australia. I have been researching the Soderberg name for about 10 years and my connections also come from Sweden. John Erik Soderberg was born in Thorham, Sweden in about 1857. He was the eldest of 10 children. As a small boy his family moved to Germany where the youngest of the family was born. He was a ship wright (job) and travelled all over the world, including england, africa, new zealand and finally settling in Melbourne Australia, where he married an english girl and had 4 children (all girls). I am currently trying to find out where all he siblings went to. But I do know that one settled in England and one in the USA.
It's great that you are so interested in your family tree at such a young age. My son, Jakob, who is 10 this year is also interested in one of my family that I have been researching as one member was a great Australian football player and many were involved in the world wars.
Keep up the research - it can last for years.
