I really don't know very much at all about my Snowball family branch. Except I like the last name, particularly, since the family that has it comes from Newcastle, Northumberland County, England - where I expect it snows a lot. Really makes you think about the origin of the name!!!
My Harriet Snowball was born and I believe died in Newcastle, Northumberland County, England. She married Lord George Beckwith before November 1770 probably in Newcastle, Northumberland County, England. Lord George Beckwith was a Colonel in the British army. I'd like to find out more also about his military service, if records exist. Lord George Beckwith also was born in Northumberland County, England and probably died in Newcastle, Northumberland County, England.
They had only one child, George Beckwith, born November 1770 in Newcastle, Northumberland County, England and died May 1869 in Ontario, Canada. Do not know the burial location.
My family notes say that George Beckwith's (the son) died while he was very young and he went to live with his aunt and uncle by marriage. This family had two sons which they educated for the ministry. The uncle was a very proud and houghty man and Geoge Beckwith not being of his blood, the uncle took no interest in him or his welfare, neither did he look after his fortune or his title.
I don't know if this uncle is a Snowball.
Obviously, I'd like to fill in the family group sheet more on this family, with birth, marriage, and death info, if it still exists. I'd like to know who this uncle was.
Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.
