Wally,
Yes, Henry Snow (1674-1771) married Sarah Nason and had seven children including Alexander Snow (b. 1724/5-1791) and he had several children including Francis Snow (1771-1854), who married Eunice Parker (July 1, 1792) and had Henry, Samuel (that's my guy born in 1801), Hiram and Betsy.Incidentally, Francis ended up living with his only daughter Betsy and her husband Noah Pike late in his life - (1850 Census - S. Berwick ME, p. 319B).I suppose then, like now, the youngest daughter took in the widower father late in life.
Your Henry and my Samuel were brothers. Our common immigrant from England was Henry Snow, the elder. The Snows arrived in southern Maine around 1700 and settled in the "Upper Parish" which is now where modern day Eliot ME is.Then moved to the Berwicks through the middle of the 19th Century when the great scattering started. My line (Henry-Alexander-Francis-Samuel-George-Frederick-John all were born in ME.John is my grandfather.
According to Marriages and Deaths at Berwick and Other Towns Francis and Eunice married on July 1, 1792 officiated by Elder Nathaniel Lord. The Lord family plays into the Snows two generations later when a Lord marries into the Snow line.
The dates work out.Samuel was born after your Henry according to my records and in Samuel were born in 1801 and your Henry in 1796, then that all would check out.Very interesting that Henry would move north to Canada and marry, settle.I have tons more on Henry the elder (your Henry's great-grandfather).Do you know the story of your Henry getting from Maine to Nova Scotia?Your Henry would be my great-great-great uncle!I suppose we're cousins.:o)
