Erna I still have trouble getting emails to you so will post here and hope that you see this.
I don't think our Comfort Snow's first name was Comfort, I believe that it may have been Cynthia.
On the 1850 census, Spartanburg SC., gggg uncle Levi H. Wofford is head of household. He is age 35. etc. etc. but the kicker is there are all these Wofford females living in his household including a Cynthia Wofford age 80, Sarah Wofford age 50, Ellen Wofford age 45, Caroline Wofford age 43, Mary Wofford age 40 and an 11 yr old boy named E. Hendrik. They lived next door to his brother Benjamin and Amaryllis.
If this Cynthia is his mother, then we have a whole new ballgame....perhaps we have all been looking in the wrong direction.
These other Wofford females could be sisters or sister-in-law as the ages are correct to be.
Ellen could be Eleanor who was born aft 1792
Mary could be either sister Mary who was born about 1810 or the widow of John S. Wofford, who some give the maiden name as Mary Scott.
Sarah could also be the widow of John S. Wofford as they named their daughter Sarah.
Caroline could be the widow of William, who died during the War of 1812.Or she could be the widow of Nathaniel who was married to Jane Caroline Fielder, the age is correct.
By the way, I have more Info on Columbus H. Allen.
Please contact me so I can catch you up on several lines.
