Well, they could be -- I don't know exactly where my John and Sarah were born or anything about them prior to the 1850 census, but in his Civil War pension file, their son William R. (my ancestor) listed his place of birth as Jefferson County in 1841.
How did you locate them in 1842? And are you a descendant?
