John T Snelson - Cherokee County Kansas
Posted by: John Smeltzer (ID *****9712) Date: December 31, 2008 at 08:57:06

Curious if anyone here is connected to the John Snelson family b. abt 1871 (father listed as A. C. Snelson b. abt 1846 Missouri). I find the family listed next to the John Beeman family and the Lewis family in the 1885 Sheriden, Cherokee County, KS census. Both the Beeman family and the Lewis families are associated with my Smelser line and I occasionally see the surname Smelser transcribed as "Snelson" where the M looks like an N and the "R" looks like an "N" .... and the O is either correctly listed as an "O" ... "SmelsOr" or misread as an "O" when it should be an "E". So, just trying to sort that possibility out. Other names included are Florence, William, Lorena May, Elliot, Myrtle, Siley, Ida. A.C. Snelson's wife is listed as "F.A. Snelson".
