Have been abstracting Jackson Co., TN Loose Court Papers, Reel #118 had this tidbit, hope it helps someone: STATE OF TENNESSEE vs JAMES SNEED BOND: Mollie Wilson, a minor, is bound to James Sneed for the sum of $200 on 12 August 1891. Sneed to come back 12 August 1892, and if he has fed, clothed and schooled...to be void. James Sneed, Principal. M. N. Crowder and G. S. Adge, Surety. PETITION: James C. Walker, Guardian of Mollie Wilson, an orphan child of Sid and Eliza Wilson who are both dead. Child now living with James Sneed, her uncle, who is very poor, begs for a living, forces child to beg for him. Child nearly naked and goes hungry. Sneed refuses to let her attend school although neighbors furnished books...child nearly age 10. George Agee, a proper person, is willing to apprentice child. ORDER: James Sneed to retain custody for present on his giving bond. August 1891. Notify Administrator about this message?
