qBetty in researching my Sneed/Snead family, I believe I have found some of your family. my were in Jackson Co,AR.
but I saw your family in Randolph co, where my husband's fmly lived. hope the below information helps you some.

the 1900 census of Randolph Co, Ar Spring River Twp,microfilm page 3, dated 8th & 9th of June,1900 household 38/38
Augustus Sneed age 38, male, white, born Jan 1862, single,
born Ark both parents born Ar, a boarder of the Thomas J Weaver family.

15 Apr 1910 Randolph Co,AR census, Spring River Twp, page 199, family 2/2
Gus B Snead age 49, a farmer, born Ala, father born Va, mother born Ala, married for 10 years,
Myrtle Snead, wife, children Andrew, age 8, Donnie(daug)age 6, Dollie(dau)age 5, a son maybe named Charles or Moory couldnt read age 4, a dau Juliaor lizzie age 0.

Gus passed away between 1910 and 1920 records as Myrtle was remarried your mom Georgia Snead age 8 in 1920 was listed as Myrtles daug, and her husband's step daug.

i went back a bit futher in the arkansas census records.
1870,Craighead Co, Ark, Jonesboro twp, page 140, household #259/273
Phillip Snead age 64, male white, farmer born NC, had 100 personal property.
Julia A Snead age 25 born Miss, keephouse
Augustus Snead age 5, born Ala
James M Snead age 2 born Ark.
(I believe Augustus was Phillip's grandson, and Julia A Snead was his daughter in law)
also in Craighead co in 1870, 2 June, Powell twp(page 158B
household #26/39
Andrew J Snead age 25 born Ga works on farm living with Household of Flint Stephenson
13 Aug, 1870 Craighead co,AR, Jonesboro Twp page 137B,
household #222/235
John W Snead age 31, born Ga had $469 personal prop,
Mary A Snead age 20, born Ga
Ellen A Snead age 9 born Ar.
(I believe this John W, and Andrew J Snead were sons of above Phillip and uncles to your Augustus Snead)

I checked 1880 ark census didn't find Phillip Snead or Augustus or James M or Julia A Snead.
A J Snead(Andrew) and probably middle name was (Jackson)
age 34 born (1846 GA)was living in Pulaski Co, AR, Bayou Metoe Twp a widower, two children Alice Snead age 3 born AR
and a son Clemey F Snead age 1 born Ar

John W Snead age 41 born (1839 Ga) was living in York Twp, of Lonoke County, AR(right next door to Pulaski Co,AR)
wife Mary A Snead age 40(born 1840 GA)
then from several years ago of my family research i had found Daniel T Snead age 32, born in Ga in Jackson Co, AR
later moved to Craighead co,AR(and I beleive also possibly a son of Phillip Snead.

I checked 1860 arkansas census records and only found the following, Craighead Co, Ar, Powell Twp, Greensboro Po
John W Snead age 21 born GA a farmer, Mary A Snead age 18, born Ala, and a child Margaret Brooks age 10, born Tenn
(was household #174/174-they were living next door to a Brooks Family)

I believe your Snead family came out of North Carolina, into maybe South Carolina, into Georgia, and Alabama, into Arkansas. My Sneed/Snead family also came from North Carolina up through Georgia and into Tennessee, Jackson Co-our families might be related through this North Carolina ancestor. my ancestor is also Andrew Jackson Snead/Sneed his father Israel Snead possibly a son of Samuel Sneed/Snead from North Carolina. there has been found a will of this Samuel Sneed/Snead in North Carolina and I believe he did have a son named Phillip as well as Israel(am going from memory here so need to double check this for you).
hope this information will help you out some.
margie in Lawrence County, AR
