am posting this today in the hopes it will help someone researching their Sneed family.

pension #6134 states Soldier was born in Hanover County, Virginia & he lived there at enlistment and after the Rev war he moved to Halifax Co, Va. Soldier married Rebecca daughter of Dabney & Elizabeth Pettus of Charolette County Virginia on 5 Apr 1779 in Henrico Co, Va. Widows father Dabney Pettus died between 1 Mar & 1 of Sept 1788.Soldier died 18 Sept 1819, widow applied 29 Mar 1847 Halifax Co, Va aged 85, sol's wdow's children were: Dabney Sneed born 3 Aug 1780, Betsey Sneed born 4 Sep 1785, John Sneed born 3 Jun 1788, Jincy Sneed born 17 Mar 1792, Polly Sneed born 17 Apr 1794, William Sneed born 26 Nov 1796 & H. P. Sneed born 26 June 18??. In 1847 one Betsey Pettus made aff'dt in Halifax Co, Va but no relationship was given. In 1847 a Jesse Snead aged 53 of Richmond Va stated he was a son of Robert Snead the brother of the Rev soldier John Snead & both his father Robert & his Uncle John had srved in the Rev war, Sol's nephew Jesse Snead was born in Hanover Co, Va the following bros & sisters of wid were shown, towit; Judy Pettus, Anna Pettus, Mary Finley, Elizabeth Gates & John Pettus all of Fluvanna County, Va in 1788, in 1788 a Stephen Pettus was of Prince Edward Co Va & in 1788 one Charles Pettus was referred to, the following births were given but no surname was given, so they could possibly be slaves, towit; Cate born 10 Nov 1793, Sal born 2 Feb 1797, Edmond born 11 Jul 1799, Hamton born 12 Dec 1803, Mary born 8 Apr 1802, Charolette born 23 Jan 1807, Rody born 10 Feb 1811, Anderson born 13 May 1814 & Elisha born 20 Nov 1817.
(these were in a book submitted in 1847)dosen't mention what book.
