I think the JOHN WILLIAM SNEED you are looking for is one of the sons of ZACHARIAH TAYLOR SNEED (b.1795). You might investigate the JOHN WILLIAM SNEED - b. 1814 - that I have listed in my GEDCOM on Rootsweb. I had heard the story of the "horse thief in Texas" from some very old relatives when I was a child. My Gr-Gr-Grandfather, Samuel R. Sneed, was the brother of this John Sneed who was hung for horse theft.

Sincerely,
Marsha Sneed-Folks sunsiray@westriv.com
