Snead and Link, Halifax Co., VA, 1860. A relationship?
Irving and Richard Sneed were each living with one of the Link brothers in the Southern District of Halifax County, Virginia, in 1860. Silas and Byrd Link were sons of William Link and (probably) Sally Blackwell.
1860 United States Census
(Family Number 860)
Silas Link 36 b. VA
Irving Snead 23 b. VA
(Family Number 822)
Byrd Lynk 35 b. VA
Richard Sneed 22 b.VA
This 1860 census also lists a Byrd Sneed, 53, with family (family 783), but so many men in Halifax County were named Byrd/Bird that this isn’t much of a clue to a relationship.
Richard and Irvine Sneed were also brothers, as shown by this census ten years before.
1850 United States Federal Census, Southern District, Halifax, Virginia (Family Number: 782)
Micajah Sneed 50 VA
Elizabeth Sneed 48 VA
John Sneed 28 VA
Benjamin Sneed 23 VA
Ann Sneed 21 VA
Mary Sneed 18 VA
Irvine Sneed 16 VA
William Sneed 16 VA
Richard Sneed 12 VA
My own connection is to the Link family. Does anyone know of a relationship between the Sneeds and Links?
