The question has been raised as to who Dr. E.M.Sneed might be. All I can tell you is that he is a relative of my friend, Wm. Benjamin Sneed, author of a book on the Sneed family. He has been dead since 1932, but his name has been inscribed on the book. Mr. Wm. Benjamin Sneed is the author.
While I may not always agree with my friend's conclusions,the book contains considerable data on the Sneed family, as well as a number of related families. We do know that his ancestor, William Sneed, was a very wealthy planter, and the owner of 73 slaves. How such a wealthy man could have been the son of a schoolmaster is hard to explain. We believe this William to be closely related to our line, as he lived close by and spelled his name with the double "e".
