Selma, in the 1870 census for West Hempfield Township, Lancaster Co., PA, there is a Barbara Sneath (age 26) living with the family of Jacob Stauffer (b ca 1837) and his wife, Sarah A. (b ca 1834). Barbara Sneath is designated as being "at home". She was apparently a close relative and not a hired person, as another girl, Margaret Gable (age 16) was listed as a domestic servant. I find a Barbara Sneath (age 6) on the 1850 census which fits the Barbara in the household of Jacob Stauffer. This Barbara is listed in the family of Michael Sneath (age 39; b ca 1811), along with Mary Sneath (41), Amos Sneath (9), Lehah Sneath (7) , Harriet Sneath (4), ahd Henry Sneath (1). Jacob Stauffer was a son of Henry Stauffer (b ca 1809) who had a wife, Anna, on the 1850 census. Can you tell me the relationship of Barbara Sneath to Jacob Stauffer's family? Thanks for your help.
