Hi Donna,

Just trying to find out about my Snead family connections. It is much rumored in my family that my GGGGF was Cherokee Indian. His name was James William Snead and he came from Virginia mid-late 1800's. He married Esteline Carver Snead whom also lived in VA. They moved to WV and settled somewhere near Huttonsville. They had 3 daughters> Lula B. Snead, Sarah Mildred Snead(my GGGM)(Died Nov. 1968) and Delilah A. Snead. My GGGM married Sylvester Roberts and lived near Coalton, formerly(Wolmelsdorf), West Virginia. When my GGGM was a young girl, she witnessed James's (her father) murder. He was supposedly murdered because he was an Indian. He and his (friends?) went out one evening and became well intoxicated). My GGGGF was tied to a chair in a wooded area and made to drink liquor laced with rat poison. My GGGM was sworn to secrecy and never told anyone until the 2 men were dead. Needless to say the murderers were never brought to trial for lack of witnesses? Just a little family history... I hope you can help me in find out if James was really was Cherokee.

Thanks a bunch
