Thought that maybe Sam Snead might be in my family tree since John Snead and Jane Jackson parents of Keziah are my direct ancestors. Don't believe Sam is in my tree and here is what I have come up with in my ameteurish method of only looking at forums and the LDS files. I am aware of debate in this forum concering John Snead and accept what Mr. Summers submitted to the LDS files as my true line. As you are aware, there are many John Sneads and several Keziah Sneads. Anyway here is my attempt. John Snead d 1809 married Jane Jackson with daughter Keziah d 1849 marrying William Keyser. It has been documented that they had a number of children and I am descended from John "Jack". LDS files show I believe another John Snead d 1812 married Jane Winn and are perhaps the ancestors of Slammin' Sammy. Am quite surprized that I cannot find the great Sam Snead's line on your forum. John Snead b c 1740 d 1812 Hanover Richard Snead b c 1760 d Jun 1828 Bath Richard Snead b c 1806 Samuel Jackson Snead b Jun 25 1826 Bath Harry Snead b 1869 (taken from 1880 census Cedar Creek, Bath) and then Samuel Jackson "Slammin' Sammy" Snead b May 27,1912 Ashwood I know that the last two generations are a little strechy with both becoming fathers at the age of 43, but I have noted that Sam had several older brothers and Samuel's marriage to Elizabeth at the age of 40 is well documented. Also the 1880 Census for Samuel and Elizabeth "Lizzy" are off a couple years for their birth year with the census recording that Samuel was 52 and Lizzy was 40. Any guidance from the Snead family and historians is appreciated. Keith A Vance Notify Administrator about this message?
