Ok John,

I'm Julie Hoover Smylie, Jim's wife. I'm the silly girl trying to do genealogy on 4-5 fronts! :):)

Jim's great-grandfather and your great-grandfather were brothers.
John "Willy" born 1/24/1849, died 7/30/1938 and Archibald Alexander (3/8/1853 - 2/12/1884 match?) were brothers, and sons of Rev. John Archibald and Nancy Isadore Jackson Smylie. You and Jim are kin but to be honest -- I
don't know the correct connect -- you know, 1st cousin twice removed, etc. :)

Do you have the 35+ paper write-up by William Robert Smylie, uncle to my father-in-law, son of John Willy Smylie? I intend to either can the document or type it into my computer. Probably will type it since I'm pretty quick and scanning will create so much clean-up work to do.
If
you do not have it, as soon as I get it in, I will send you the file attached to an email.

This document has some information about Susan Sellers and the other 2 wives.

John Willy Smylie was first married to Imogene Hudson, in Ellis County, TX on 3/24/1873. She was born 11/27/1847 and died 4/21/1874 of tuberculosis. Buried in Milford TX. Imogene Hudson and Ophelia Newton, AA Smylie's wife, were first cousins. John and Imogene had no children. He next married Mattie Greer in Irene TX, 3/28/1883 and they had 8 kids, including Jim's grandfather, James Calvin Smylie.

That answers some of your questions, but you really need the historical history that W.R. wrote. I'll be as quick as possible.

More later.

Julie Smylie
