Regarding the first part and Guild records, Major Jay Berry Price, "The Price, Blakemore, Hamblen, Skipworth and Allied Lines," (Knoxville, Tennessee: Tennessee Valley Publishing, 1992), Page 658 states regarding this, "Many Shipwright records containing genealogical information do exist in either original or printed transcript but the time period of 1635 few known records exist. The Account books from 1621-1726 have survived which contain some genealogical information. These Account books have been searched; but no Smoot entries were recorded."
For his age, Charles Co., MD land records A:158, FHL microfilm 0,013,746, gives his age as about 63 at the 25 Nov. 1661 court. A transcript can be seen in the Archives of Maryland 53:149
