Thanks, Addie.
My great-uncle was Joseph Edward Stoken. He married Florence Smithson, daughter of Robert Clayton Smithson and Hazel Robie, in 1934.If you'd like more on Joseph than what's at Twigs and Branches, I've put up a memorial for him at FindAGrave.com.
www.familysearch.org has the following census...
The 1881 census for Hawkesbury East, Prescott, Ontario has:
Robert SMITHSONMMaleEnglish62AngleterreCultivateurBaptist
Mary Jane SMITHSONMFemaleIrish59QuebecBaptist
Leandre SMITHSONMaleEnglish17OntarioFarmer'S SonBaptist
Drusilla SMITHSONFemaleEnglish14OntarioBaptist
Source Information: FHL Film 1375864NA Film NumberC-13228 District103 Sub-districtA Division1 Page 8 Household Number34
which is where I got the birth location for Robert. In looking further, it appears I jumped the gun in assuming Angleterre is a location in England, as it appears from some of my Googling that Angleterre was what the French called England... I was assuming since they put the province for Mary, they intended an actual location in England for Robert. It appears I was incorrect.
