Hello Owen

As far as I know John had four children:

William ch. 22 Jan 1681 Brasted
Elizabeth ch. 31 Aug 1684 Westerham
Thomas ch. 13 Jan 1687 Westerham
Richard ch. 2 Feb 1689 Westerham.

I think this is the William who married Sarah Henly at Sevenoaks in 1709 and the Thomas who married Elizabeth Fry in 1712, both settling in Leigh.

John was probably buried at Westerham on 27 Apr 1720. Iíve got no record of his marriage or christening, but 1654 looks like a good guess at his date of birth and could account for the lack of christening. I suspect that John was possibly the son of William Smither who was buried at Westerham in 1680 and that he (John) had a brother, also named William who christened his son Thomas in 1682 at Westerham and possibly buried another (William) in 1681.

William (d. 1680) possibly had a brother named John, buried at Westerham in 1688 and possibly christened at Westerham 5 Aug 1630, son of Thomas??. I canít be certain regarding Thomas as the info comes from a transcript made years ago and I wasnít sure about it then, the parish register is fairly difficult to read during this period.

Regards,

Michael J. Smither.
