Judge THOMAS J SMITHERMAN b. 28 February 1837 Maplesville, Al. [per t.s.] and wife MARY ELIZABETH "Betty" HOWARD had the following children according to the census records: EVA b. 1863/64 d. young, 2. BERTHA "Berdie" b. 1866/67, 3. JOSEPH F listed as Jal on 1870 b. 1869/70, 4. WILEY J. b. 29 March 1874, 5. DAISY b. 1878 [note: later listed as Willie and she married a Gardner],6. THOMAS J Jr. b. 31 August 1879,
7. FANNIE M, 8. "NELLIE", and 9. HOWARD b.May 1884 [per 1900 US Bibb].

Judge THOMAS J SMITHERMAN was the son of JOSEPH SMITHERMAN b. ca 1794 and his SECOND Wife Sarah Latham, who were married in Bibb Co., Al. on 25 October 1827 by his brother-in-law Eliah Jones.

WILLIAM SMITHERMAN SR. b. ca 1758 d. 1821/22 Bibb Co., Al. NO I cannot prove who his wife or wives were and neither can anyone else that I know of. It should be noted that he had a son named WILLIAM SMITHERMAN b. ca 1786/87 Randolph Co., NC who died Nov. 1860 whose wife was named ANNA ? b. 1794/96 GA. [according to census records]. This is perhaps where some researchers have picked up the name Anna and not stopped to pull the actual records to look at the dates and realize that they are a generation off.

If you will email me directly I can give you a lot more information than this.
