I am also a Smitherman descendant and don't recall a Daniel but will check my file and send you lots of things. The family is aligned with the Hicks, Cox, Latham, and Lawrence families who married and intermarried for over 100 years. They moved from North Carolina through Georgia and then to Alabama. Some then moved to Upshur County,Texas. My father is a Hicks whose great-grandmother was Mary Ann Smitherman born 1826 in Bibb County.
To give you some idea: our Hicks ancester fathered 21 children; My 2nd great-grandfather had 13, with Mary Ann; each of his children married and produced at minimum 5 children and my great-grandfather also fathered 13. The clan is huge.
