Maude Mae Smitherman, b. Dec 19, 1885, (? Maybe Athens, Menard Co.) Illinois, d. Mar 18, 1952, Chicago. Maude Mae married Harry Edison Oliver son of Jesse Oliver and Martha Treft. Harry was born 1878, Lincoln, d. 1960 Chicago. Harry and Maude Mae had two children, Merle F. and Ethel G. (Mrs. Raymond Sheehan), they both passed in FL, 2000.
Harry's brother James Nelson Oliver, b. 1881, d. 1950, married Myrtle ("Mert") Alzina Jones b. 1886, d.1989, Chicago. Yes, she lived to be 103 years-old! Her parents could be Werle (?) Jones and Calle Pierce. She had a brother Roy Jones.
Maude Mae's father Jesse/Jessie/Jasper Smitherman, b. 1859 or 1860, Macoupin Co., IL., son of Thomas Smitherman and Ellen Moye.
Jesse married Mary A. McKinney, July 10, 1885, Girard, Macoupin Co, IL., daughter of Richard D. McKinney and Mary Ayers. Jesse and Mary had two children Maude Mae (1885) and Walter b. Mar 25, 1887 Athens, Menard Co., IL. Walter d. 1910 Springfield, Sangamon Co., IL. Walter died in a coal mining accident. Walter and his father Jesse were both coal miners.
Walter married Nora Elizabeth Hurley, Aug 26, 1908 in Covington, Fountain Co., Indiana, daughter of Dan Hurley and Edith Russel. Nora was born Nov 25, 1890, and died Mar 4, 1968 in Lincoln, IL. Walter and Nora had a son named Jasper Daniel Smitherman, b. Jun 24, 1909, Springfield, IL., d. April 1988 in Lincoln. Jasper used the name Jesse and was called Jess, he married (1) Geraldine Kakly, (2) Lucille (?) and had one daughter with each wife. Jess's half-brother Ray Money passed away this year in Lincoln.
I'm searching for any info on this Illinois Smitherman clan. Thomas Smitherman and Ellen Moye birth place and parents are a mystery, plus, plus. Help! TIA.
