Smith/Davidson Family in Lumpkin Co., GA in 1845
A man named John Young (or Young John) Davidson married a Jane (apparently Mary Jane) Smith in Lumpkin Co., GA in 1845.DNA testing on a living male Davidson descendant of that couple shows that John Young/Young John Davidson was a member of DNA "Family 10" (at www.davidsongenes.org) that "traces back" to James City Co., VA by at least 1682.The members of that Davidson family were living in various counties in VA by 1822, when the above John Young/Young John Davidson was born in VA.
Note: The children of John and Jane were named Emeline, Mary Jane, William Lee, Mitchell Cass, Martha Ann "Mattie," Charles Long, Young, and Edward/Edwin Davidson.John's second wife was Ellen E. McCreary, and they had a son who was named John George Young Davidson.
The referenced John Young/Young John Davidson was living in a hotel, per the 1860 Jackson Co., AL census (shown as just "John Davidson"), and his children were living in various surrounding homes (at least some of which were owned by families who were also from VA....like a Roach family and an Owen family). This Davidson family was living in Franklin Co., KY by the 1870 census, and as mentioned above, John married a Miss McCreary after Mrs. Jane (Smith) Davidson died.
Does anyone know if the referenced Smith family in Lumpkin Co., GA in 1845 also "traces back" to VA....and if so, to which county in VA?We are trying to determine the parents (and earlier ancestors) in VA of John Young/Young John Davidson. Thanks!
