William S. Smith was born 17 July 1808 in Bucks County, PA. He wound up moving around in Blair, Indiana and Cambria Counties - dying in Johnstown, Cambria County in 1885. He was married twice - 1st wife was Elizabeth Brant - 2nd wife was Nancy Agnes Shook. I descend from James Smith - born to William and Elizabeth. James and a sister were born in the 1830s in Blair County in the Hollidaysburg/Duncansville/Newry area. The kids born to the 2nd wife were born in Indiana County. Is anyone out there looking at the Blair County Smiths? I am hoping that Williams siblings and/or parents wound up there too. If anyone searching Smiths believes they are looking at one of his siblings - or they know who his parents were - I would like to hear from you. I am also looking for the marriage date for his 1st marriage and birth and death dates for Elizabeth Brant (burial site would also be appreciated). My guess is that she died in 1841 or 1842. I do not have parents or siblings for Eliza, either. His 1st child with the 2nd wife was born in February of 1844. William may also have been in Bellefonte, Centre County for awhile. Any information on Bill or Eliza or their families would be greatly appreciated. I have information on Bill and his kids and grandkids and am willing to share. If there were stories in your family about relatives being killed in the Johnstown Flood in 1889 - this is the line. You can email me directly at
