Smith Family Genealogy Forum

Thanks Audrey for this information. As you might have deduced from my posting, my gap lies in the period from 1880 to 1900 -- not unusual for many genealogists. Clara migrated from IL to CO during this period. I can't find why she would migrate from IL to NE Colorado as a single woman, but she obviously did. Further, during this time, she met her future husband, who being a miner, logically ended up in the gold mines at Gillette, CO. He became ill in the winter of 1898 and died there in Gillette. His mother, Eugenia (nee Hedrick) [Smith] [Harrison] Bryant, following his death, brought his widow, Clara, and her two children back to Rico, CO. There the young boy, my mother's brother, apparently died in infancy. Unfortunately, no one in the family asked my grandmother or mother about the details of this time period. So, I'm scratching for fill-in information. If you know anything about this Albert Smith or anyone who might know of him, I would appreciate your response immensely.
