Hi Dean,
Thanks for your response.I have found some information on Elizabeth Staley's line.Elizabeth was listed in census records as being born in NC, but her death record indicated her birth as Ohio.I have not found a brith record for her yet to know which one is accurate, but the death record did have some accurate information, which was that her parents were from PA.I have Elizabeth's parents as Conrad Staley(b 4/23/1736 Ger, d 5/31/1816 Randolph co. NC) and Barbara Huver (b 1738 Ger, d Randolph Co. NC), and I have Barbara Huver's parents as George (d bef Feb 2, 1775 York Co., PA) and Barbara Hoober/Huver.I think there is a good possibility that Johan Jacob Stahle/Staley is Conrad's father, partly based on location, and because he names his first son Johan Jacob, however, it is also possible that Conrad's father was Joseph Stahle/Staley.
Since you are also a descendant of Eli and Catherine, have you been able to find any proof to her last name?I have seen it listed as both Hodge and Bean, but I have only been able to find a marriage record for Eli Smith and Catherine Bean, plus I know there is a strong family link between the Beans and the Smith family.I was told that Dr. Alonzo J Bean was a cousin to ths Smith family. He was the son of Alexander Asbury Bean (also known as 'Sander').Sander Beansigned as a witness on the marriage certificate of Eli and Catherine's daughter, Elizabeth in her marriage to Moses William Bohanan.I think there is a likely possibility thatCatherine may have been Sander's aunt (his parents were Jesse Bean and Leah Gallemore), but I have not been able to prove her relation.I know there is a mess of information regarding Jesse Bean's father, William Bean, but I have my doubts about whether William actually had that many children with two wives, or whether there are two William Beans that are being confused as one.
This is all I currently have on the parents and grandparents of Elizabeth Staley Smith, and Catherine and Eli.I would welcome any assistance or comments you may have. Thanks!
