Join the DNA project for Smiths of Connecticut, Massachusetts, & New York
If you have Smiths who lived in CT, MA, or NY before the 20th Century, you may want to join the Smiths of Connecticut, Massachusetts, and New York DNA project.
Participants must be male Smiths because the genetic characteristic measured (the Y chromosome) is passed along the male line from father to son. Interested people who are not male Smiths may wish to recruit a male Smith of their line to participate, perhaps sharing the expenses of participation with them. For instance, I am a female with the maiden name of Smith who recruited my first cousin, Bill, to take part. The DNA test involves a simple cheek swab that is analyzed by a research lab at a discounted price for members of our group. The kit containing the cheek swab materials is mailed to participants, who are assigned a kit number and password for accessing their results after they have been analyzed.
