Your Smirls must be the ones I find in the Nebraska census records. My Smirls are William Smirl, born 1785 in Ireland who married Barbra (maybe Wilson and maybe Rent) born 1802 in Scotland. They lived in Heuvelton N.Y. and had eight children-John, George, Samuel, jane, Mary, Barbra, Sarah(my line who married a Barstow) and Richaline. Many of them lived in Grant CO. Wisconsin-Iowa and mine were in Nebraska. William died in Heuvelton in 1847 and Barbra died in 1891. There certainly are many of the same names.
