Looking for information about Rev. Thomas Smerdon and family. Thomas was the Minister of Woodland, Devon and Master of the Grammar School, Ashburton, Devon, for the 50 years preceding his death in 1788. Thomas' birthdate and birthplace are unknown. He and wife, Mary ???, had five children: John b.1742, Thomas Ulric b.1748, Katherine b.1752, Mary b.1752 and Fulwood b.1754, all born in Ashburton, Devon. John, became an attorney at-law, married Elizabeth Madge, settled in Ashburton where they raised their family of 8 children. Fulwood married Dorothy Collyns and moved on to Ottery St Mary where he became the Vicar of the Parish Church until his death in 1794. Fulwood and Dorothy had 4 children, the first was born in Kenton, the others were born in Ottery St. Mary.
