Deceased Name: Winifred J. Smedley
ASHLAND - Winifred J. "Winnie Jo" Smedley, 80, of Ashland died Thursday, Dec. 21, 2006, at St. John's Hospital.
She was born June 13, 1926, in Virginia, the daughter of Harold and Leota Acres Wankel. She married Gordon L. Smedley in 1947 in Philadelphia.
Mrs. Smedley was a 1944 graduate of Virginia High School. She was employed several years by the State of Illinois and was a homemaker.
She was a member of the Ashland Church of Christ and was active in the Ashland Women's Club.
Survivors: husband, Gordon; two daughters, Lynn (husband, Roger) Dietz of Jacksonville and Sandra (husband, Greg) Davis of Springfield; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brother, Jack (wife, Helen) Wankel of Literberry; and several nieces and nephews.
Services: 10 a.m. Wednesday, Massie-Buchanan Funeral Home, Ashland. Burial: Ashland Cemetery.
