I've not seen any factual evidence that would persuade me to believe anything other than the logical conclusion that William Schmetter was Germanic in origin. The fact that his will is in English is the least compelling, since lawyers and government officals were all anglo. The rest of the evidence cited for English origins is just random name association.
Similarly - I have I seen no evidence that would connect him to any other family or father - or that his son William moved to North Carolina. This is the end of the line as far as I'm concerned - or until DNA evidence supports other theories.
