Hi,
I too was looking for information on Mr. Smathers when I stumbled across your posting. I believe this is the same Elmer Smathers who was my grandfather's (Charles Brandon) uncle. As I understand it, he made a fortune in oil and real estate and died with no children to leave it to. In his will be established a trust, which continues today to pay twice yearly checks to unit holders and annuitants in the trust (of which I am one, small, part). I'm not particulary interested in the whole geneology thing, but rather desire to know more about him as a man and the history of his enterprises. I also noticed your correspondence regarding Perry Brandon. Perry was my great grandfather and quite notorious from what I have heard. I'd be interested in hearing from you.
